Felix Spender
Felix is a former army officer who runs Northlight Solutions, to help resolve conflict in the workplace.
He was referred to Angela at PR The Write Way by a third party, who advised him he needed to do ‘some good old-fashioned’ PR to get his name out there.
Felix, who served in the army for over 30 years, has found the third party endorsement in various publications has led to greater credibility in his field.
He said: “If you have a business based on trust, then PR is a good way to build up a credible profile.”
Benefits
Felix, who has worked on peace-keeping missions with Nato in Kosovo and Iraq, said: “The tangible benefits are, without doubt, third-party validation and a raised profile.
“It has brought in contacts from people who have read the articles and found it interesting.
“There is something very powerful about the written word which is shared by a third party, as opposed to marketing on your own sites. It seems to have greater trust attached to it.”
He said there were also unexpected benefits, such as triggering other business ideas.
Felix said: “Angela takes the time to understand your business. This is important to get the story right, but also the conversation can lead you to be self-reflective. This in turn triggers another train of thought.
“It has also been a long-term, collaborative relationship. Angela has continued to engage and support my business even after our work together was completed.
“It’s a straightforward and enjoyable process. Angela is quick on the uptake and turns work around quickly.”
About Felix:
Felix joined the army at 18 and trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He joined the Royal Irish Rangers and in 1978. He worked his way up the ranks to serve as a senior officer.
He worked with NATO in Kosovo in 2005-6 to help develop a democratic society following the Kosovo War of 1998-99. He was based in Iraq in 2009 to build capacity within the Iraqi military during a period of transition following the war of 2003.
Felix retired from the army in 2010 and worked as a consultant for Begbies Traynor Global Risk Partners, which is part a global risk and investigation service. He has helped gain the release of more than 100 hostages captured by Somali pirates.
In March 2011, Felix set up North Light Solutions conflict management consultancy because he recognised conflict could be a drain on a firm’s time and resources.
He works with a team of mostly former army officers to enable organisations and offers a three prong approach of resolution, support and prevention.
