Purpleinds NLP

Nicky Maidment

Nicky Maidment of Purpleminds NLP has worked with Angela since 2014. She has found the work has helped her stand out from competitors in her field, develop rapport with her audience and cement her reputation as a therapist.

It has helped raise her profile and has led to other opportunities, including interviews with the BBC and Radio 4, as well as enquiries from as far as the US.

  1. Why did you decide you needed PR?

I wanted more people to know about me and what I do. This meant reaching further afield than my local area and ensuring I could be found easily online.

  1. Why did you decide to use Angela at PR the Write Way?

Angela has a background in journalism and writes well. While a lot of people write articles and present them to various platforms, Angela’s background means they are presented in a way that’s suitable for the publications. It’s an easy win for all parties.

I think one of her biggest strengths is that she listens well and engages in discussion, so you know what’s going on and why she suggests certain ways of working. You feel comfortable in her capable hands.

I am very particular about the content of what goes out there about me, the uniqueness of NLP itself and the language used, and she was able to work with me precisely on the content with a wonderful sense of detail. She’s also flexible and I can make tweaks as needed.

  • What results did this get you?

I initially featured in a number of publications, which also included backlinks to my website.

It was a topical piece and it then led to further opportunities. I have been interviewed on BBC Radio Bristol , The BBC late show and have had a preliminary interview with the Radio 4 producer so far and Yahoo News.

I’ve become comfortable being interviewed and have been asked back to talk about various topics.

It all started with one article and has led to many interesting opportunities. People have said ‘you’re everywhere’ and ‘you’re famous’, which is nice.

  1. How has this benefited you?

It means I’ve got a wider reach and it separates me from competitors.

Often, people have to hear your name a few times before they remember it. I’ve found being positioned as a leader in my field gives me kudos and people take me more seriously.

I’m not just the therapist ‘round the corner’ but I’m out there in the media. When people Google me, there are many stories associated with my work – some going back nearly 10 years which are still referred to -and I’m seen as worth speaking to.

It also makes me approachable. I’ve found people are more likely to get in touch if you think they find you relatable and personable.

Sometimes potential clients may look you up and it cements your credibility and their choice. I’ve had people reach out to me from as far as Texas, USA, off the back of one article.

  1. Would you recommend Angela or use her services again?

I would and I have.

  1. Anything else you would like to add?

I would say if you’re not good at promoting or positioning yourself, then hand it over to a professional. Angela finds the newsworthy elements and formats it in the way that publications like, so that it gets results and is worth every penny.

Yvonne B Coaching

Yvonne Bignall has been recognised as a leader in her field following our work together, as well as offered business opportunities and interviews. She has also seen an increase in social media interaction..

  1. Why did you decide you needed PR?

I had an opportunity to visit No. 10 Downing Street to discuss single parents entering the world of business and PR seemed like the perfect fit for letting the public know about the work I do to help women into business, in particular the Launching Women Into Business programme.

  1. Why did you decide to use Angela at PR the Write Way?

I met Angela at a networking event and we exchanged cards. About a month later I contacted Angela to find out if there was a good angle in the story and to talk about PR in general. Angela provided me with a greater insight into PR and why working with a PR expert was better than working on my own; she had great contacts! It only took 30 minutes for Angela to get the information she needed from me to craft the article.

  1. What results did you get?

Seven publications ran the story including The Voice. That led to me being invited onto BBC Somerset for a radio interview on helping women into business and a collaboration project for a new empowerment programme being developed for young mum’s pan London.

  1. How have these results benefited you?

The intangibles are people ‘recognising’ me, seeing me as a leader in my field and the tangible outcomes being offered business opportunities, interviews and an increase in Facebook likes on my business page.

  1. Would you recommend Angela or use her services again?

Without a shadow of a doubt! I have already recommended Angela’s services and I am currently discussing another PR angle with her for my business.

  1. Anything else you would like to add?

Angela is a super find. Incredibly knowledgeable, well connected in her field, she makes doing PR make sense!

Hudson Business Advice

Della Hudson of Minerva Accountants and Hudson Business Advice had tried to do her own PR with little success. Our work together led to coverage in a range of diverse publications, which has helped increase their company profile and support the recruitment process.

  1. Why did you decide you needed PR?

We had been involved in work in the community and sponsored a number of good causes. We thought we had a lot to shout about, but didn’t feel we were spreading the word like we should.

  1. Why did you decide to use Angela at PR the Write Way?

We had tried to do it ourselves, but didn’t get any coverage. We then tried a cheap alternative, but that also had virtually no impact.

I had met Angela at networking events and was impressed by what she had to say, but was still wary. We spoke and she seemed to understand our needs and, as a former journalist, knew what the press were after. We decided to carry out a trial period.

  1. What results did you get?

I was suddenly in so many publications that my children got bored of seeing me in the press! They saw the Hudson brand everywhere. There was recognition of our firm outside of the normal business circles.

We recruited a new member of staff, Dave, who had read about us in the press. He said he felt he knew about our company and values.  This helps to show us as an established business. The team are happy to be in the press as well and share our success stories.

  1. How have these results benefited you?

It has definitely increased our business profile.

  1. Would you recommend Angela or use her services again?

Yes, I would highly recommend Angela and we continue to use her services.

  1. Anything else you would like to add?

I just had to talk and Angela would write the story. Then I’d read and sometimes edit. It was a fairly quick and pain-free process.

Tricia Hamilton

  1. Why did you decide you needed PR?

I felt that the start of the year with the launch of my new collection, ‘Vintage Curl’ and the nomination for the Venus Award was a good backdrop for some PR in my business.

  1. Why did you decide to use Angela at PR The Write Way?

I liked Angela’s relaxed approach and clear focus when I met her at a conference. She fitted my own philosophy to represent my business interests.

  1. What results did you get?

I got fantastic results. Angela was realistic in her expectations. She explained that she would try to get my article published. She had leads but gave no promises. When it got into the first paper, I was thrilled. She explained that she had not finished yet!

  1. How have these results benefited you?

The benefits have been dramatic. To start with Angela suggested I contact a Bridal Boutique that I was trying to build a link with. She coached me on a strategy to angle my way into a meeting. This worked and I now have a solid working relationship with them.

At Wedding fairs I have attended, people have read my story and want to know more. Some of the articles coincided with the public vote in the Semi-finals of the Venus Award in the category of Customer Service. This gave an opportunity for readers to vote for me in the competition. As a result of this, and a wide variety of other activities I carried out, it has brought me to the finals in the Venus Awards.

I have also been invited as a guest speaker to an exclusive Ladies Breakfast Club. Furthermore, I was invited to join the Ladies Breakfast Club to celebrate Women’s International Day.

The traffic to my Facebook page was over 1,000 during the weeks of the press releases. My twitter visitors have speedily increased to 11.1 K this week.

  1. Would you recommend Angela or use her services again?

Yes I would recommend Angela and have done this already.

  1. Anything else you would like to add?

I like Angela’s approach. She asks questions but they are not difficult. She puts one at ease and uses answers in a lovely style with details from other answers. The results are magic. She also checks her interpretation so that true copy is created.
